Congressional Art Competition

Location:
In your U.S. Congressional district—the competition is held locally through your Representative’s office, not in one central venue
Cost:
Free to participate—no entry fee is required
Contest Date:
Annual submission period occurs in spring (typically April–May), with exact dates set per district
Application Deadlines:
Varies by district—examples include April 4, 2025 for NC‑1 and April 11, 2025 for TX‑30
Eligibility:
Open to high school students (grades 9–12) residing in the corresponding Congressional district

Each U.S. Congressional district invites one outstanding two-dimensional art submission from a high school student. District winners are honored locally and their winning piece is displayed in the Cannon Tunnel at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. for one year. Approximately 30,000 students participate nationwide annually, making it one of the most widely viewed exhibitions by members of Congress and the public
