Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Competitive Events

Location:
In-person at the FBLA National Leadership Conference (NLC), with preliminary competitions held at local and state levels across the United States. Some state-level events may be offered virtually.
Cost:
National membership dues are $10 per high school student; state dues vary. Additional costs include registration fees for state and national conferences (typically $100–$200), plus travel and lodging.
Contest Date:
The FBLA National Leadership Conference is held annually in late June or early July. Local and state competitions are scheduled throughout the academic year, typically from January to May.
Application Deadlines:
National membership dues must be submitted by March 1 to be eligible for competitive events. Registration deadlines for competitions vary by state and event.
Eligibility:
Open to active FBLA high school members in grades 9–12. Students may compete in one individual or team event and one chapter event per competition cycle. Each state may advance up to four competitors per event to the national level.

FBLA offers one of the most extensive and respected competitive business event programs in the U.S. for high school students. With over 70 events spanning finance, marketing, entrepreneurship, management, technology, and communication, students compete through written tests, role-plays, presentations, and reports. Participants progress from regional to state to national levels, gaining professional skills, leadership experience, and access to scholarships and national recognition.
