Future Problem Solving Program International (FPSPI)

Location:
International Conference held at Indiana University Bloomington (in person for finalists) and qualifying events held regionally or virtually across affiliate networks
Cost:
Varies by component—Global Issues Individual entry is about $60; team fees $85; International Conference registration (June 2025) approximately $775 per individual, plus travel and accommodations
Contest Date:
International Conference scheduled for June 4–8, 2025; affiliate and state-level events occur earlier in the academic year
Application Deadlines:
Affiliate registration deadline is typically May 1 for international qualification—final deadline for IC registration is May 1, 2025
Eligibility:
Open to students in grades equivalent to U.S. grades 4 through 12 (depending on affiliate rules); individuals or teams may participate; finalists must qualify via regional/state affiliate events

FPSPI challenges young learners to apply a six-step critical‑thinking and creative‑problem‑solving process to hypothetical future scenarios or real community challenges. Competitive tracks include Global Issues Problem Solving, Community Problem Solving, Scenario Writing and Performance, and Artistic Expressions. Top teams from regional and state levels advance to the annual International Conference
