The M3 Challenge is a prestigious, fully online mathematical modeling contest where student teams work for 14 consecutive hours over a designated weekend to solve a real-world problem. Teams produce a written solution combining mathematics, data analysis, and creative reasoning. Finalists earn scholarship awards totaling over $100,000 and receive an all-expenses-paid invitation to present their work in New York City. The competition emphasizes teamwork, problem-solving, and technical computing (including optional coding awards) and is run by the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM), sponsored by MathWorks.
