Eligibility:
Open to young women ( U.S. citizens only) who are high school sophomores or juniors (U.S. grades 10–11)

Sponsored by Hollins University, this annual contest honors Nancy Thorp’s legacy by awarding recognition, publication, cash prizes, and scholarships to the best poems submitted by rising high school women. First‑place winners receive $350, publication in Cargoes literary magazine, a renewable scholarship of up to $5,000 per year (up to $20,000) if they enroll at Hollins, and full tuition and housing to attend Hollinsummer creative writing program for rising grades 9–12. Runner‑ups receive scholarships, publication, and program waivers as well
