Teams of at least two people from different generations (for example: a high school student and an adult such as a parent, grandparent, or teacher)

This national contest honors Rachel Carson’s legacy by inviting intergenerational teams to create poems or essays (optionally with a photograph) reflecting nature-inspired experiences and environmental insight, under the themes “Sense of Wonder” or “Sense of the Wild.” Teams submit creative, thoughtful writing (up to 500 words) that captures awe of the natural world and connects generations through shared reflection. Winning entries may be published on the Rachel Carson Landmark Alliance site and receive official recognition.
