The Hardest Math Problem Contest challenges middle school students to solve multistep, real-world math problems using critical thinking and precise mathematical communication. Designed for grades 6–8 (with the option for advanced 5th graders to participate), the contest is a collaboration between Scholastic, The Actuarial Foundation, and the New York Life Foundation. It offers students a chance to showcase their problem-solving skills and win prizes such as laptops and 529 college savings accounts.
