The NextGenEd Austin team recently led a hands-on community initiative called Toys of Tomorrow, focused on bringing STEM learning to students who need it most while reducing waste in the process.
Through a student-led workshop, our team designed and built 2,000 STEM toys using recycled materials that would have otherwise been thrown away. The workshop combined creativity, engineering thinking, and teamwork, turning everyday waste into meaningful learning tools.
After the build, we donated the toys to underserved communities, helping expand access to educational resources and sparking curiosity through play. Toys of Tomorrow reflects what NextGenEd stands for: students leading real impact, using practical skills to support others, and building stronger communities through education.
We’re proud of what the Austin team accomplished and excited to keep growing initiatives that make learning more accessible, creative, and community-powered.
